MOST POPULAR COLORS FOR MEN

Published via Vasaro blog website. 2023.

Long gone are the days when men’s fashion was a fly on the wall. It’s become a continually growing field in the fashion industry and is breaking barriers for men who have found a safe haven in what they wear. Or their partners who are tired of the plain tees and gym shorts.

Whoever you are, whether you’re the one on top of the Menswear Weeks or you’re finally upping the ante, we’re here to share the most popular and fashionable colors to keep you the stylish man in the room.

Veri-Peri: The Color of the Year

Veri-peri, Pantone's color of the year, is what we will start with. Every year the color institution releases a color of the year that is meant to inspire designers, artists, and creatives and predict the upcoming trend cycles. The coolest, softest periwinkle is the star of 2022 and will be an amazing addition to your closet for seasons to come.

Periwinkle is a great purple to take on if this is your first time introducing purple to your wardrobe. If you’re an expert in style, and have mastered the comfort and freedom of color, then you’ll be excited to know of this new shade taking over store clothing racks.

Wondering about possible coordinating colors? Try a periwinkle tee or button-up under a classic navy bomber for the most fashionable night look, or a monochrome look with a periwinkle and violet shorts sweat suit for casual errands running.

If you’re feeling extra runway-esque, mix in some canary to add some flair into the outfit through a sling bag or an oversized undershirt. Green is also a huge color right now, and Valentino was all about creating a beautiful balance between these two colors in their last show. Color contrast with basics in these colors to create an intriguing look that, especially if you’re in big cities, will catch street fashion photographers’ (or your casual crush’s) attention in a second.

Blue, Blue, Blue

Blue is the most worn and loved color by all men everywhere. It is believed to be the most flattering color for men, and we stand behind this fully. It is statistically shown to be the most popular color amongst men, with over 50% claiming blue to be their favorite color. We’re no scientists or mathematicians, but that definitely a fashion “woah!

We love how the classic adoration of this color has been a tribute many designers have held in high regards in these past seasons, and we continue to expect in the seasons coming up.

This includes all shades of blue, but most admired at the moment is the Crayola-inspired primary blue that has reigned alongside the other vibrant colors of this year. Luxury brands like Givenchy have embraced this hue with a magnificence and steadfast like no other. It’s a bright, bold shade that is definitely worth a few night outs in.

Colors have this astonishing power to invoke certain emotions just by someone looking at them, and fashion houses use this ability to send messages within their pieces. Blue has the capacity to create a sense of peace, stability, and serenity. A lot of cultures believe blue to be associated with wisdom, which is why a lot of royal courts used and continue to use blue in their interior design, crests, and of course, clothing.

While this primary blue is quite popular amongst the trendy crowd, navy is an all around classic that one can never go wrong with. Navy can go with any color you throw it with, and can even be argued to be considered a neutral in the eyes of any fashion king.

Navy is a popular color, always, especially with the minimalist fashion houses. If you want to create something truly minimalistic, try a navy collar button up closed or open with a white tee underneath. Pair this with either a simple plaid jogger or a relaxed jean for a casually Italian-heir look.

If you’re going for more London or New York excitement, try a monochrome navy and primary blue look. If you want bold as bold can be, try yellow, green, or orange to create a total TikTok-worthy look. Do not forget your accessories on this either. Throw on a neutral tan sling bag or a young pearl necklace to add that Zara spunk.

Sunburst Yellow

Sunshine is taking over the runways, and for a good reason too. This color brings such a feeling of happiness and hope that we refuse to say no to it this season. In the past, yellow hasn’t been the most popular color amongst men, but fashion designers and stylists are saying no more to this yellow taboo that’s been played with menswear.

Designers are embracing this color with might, and men are loving it all the same. It’s a fresh take on the usually limited color palette offered to men. While this trend is still on the upcoming, we’re expecting it to hit the streets of our favorite fashion hubs and your favorite bars very soon.

One of the reasons why yellow has been difficult to take off is because of the difficulty of pairing this color to the correct skin tone. If you wear the wrong shade, you have the chance to look washed out or cartoony. You want the right shade of yellow so that those prospects in your view aren’t slowing down, but rather speeding up in your direction.

Here’s some tips to help guide you through what yellow can really do for you. The key to this tip is knowing your undertone. If you look at your wrist and your veins appear green, your undertone is warm. If you look at your wrist and your veins appear blue, your undertone is cool.

  • Warm undertones: Go for richer yellows, like marigold or even closer to gold. These will brighten up your skin and give you that Hercules hunk glow we all need.

  • Cool undertones: Go for softer yellows, like canary and butter. This will accentuate your skin in the best way to create an approachable illusion.

Let’s say you go for it. You go all out, vacation yellow linen set, or casual comfortable yellow jogger, or even just a modish yellow hoodie. Now what? What do you pair it with to create a cohesive and trendy look?

Unlike our friend blue, monochrome yellow can be a little too intense on the eye. Our favorite is going back to the basics with this powerful color. Neutrals are going to be your best friend here.

Think a classic khaki beige or an off-colored white. Black will give you an immaculate flavor to any yellow look you put it with. If you’re not feeling neutral, seek your updated colored basics. Navy is yellow’s best friend, and will be an amazing color combo with any pieces you decide to mix them with.

Try the color of the year, periwinkle, with this fun-loving color for an intriguing look.

Garden of (Gree)den

We won’t lie to you. This is our favorite color in both menswear and womenswear. This color has absolutely captivated us in the best way possible to provide both wearer and viewer visual appeal.

Green is the color of growth, curiosity, and encouragement, and boy has it done just that to our wardrobes. It’s a color that makes us feel safe, and pushes us to be better people. Who wouldn’t love this spectacular color?

Designers like N.Hoolywood and Alled-Martinez are sharing their obsession with green in their Spring 2023 Menswear shows, and we’re here to support the movement. Like blue, there is a variety of greens being showcased by models and the public alike. We love the deep forest green and Bottega green that have made their way into our hearts.

This color is a must, especially in the manifestation of a fitted collared top or a terry textured short. If you’re not sure what to pair this striking color with, purple is an out-of-this-world way to express yourself this season. A classic is to pair these shades with a trendy yellow or intense marine.

Honorable Mentions

The Neutrals

True, they’re not going to be your pop of color, but neutrals are imperative in your wardrobe. The browns, whites, grays, and blacks are the colors that you’re going to be able to turn to every time you get into a fashion situation.

Menswear designers are also challenging silhouettes these seasons and are doing so by keeping their design colors monotone and classic. This means more whites and blacks are being drawn onto the runways, which means better outfits for you.

Work-Life Balance at BH3

Published via corporate newsletter. 2024.

The word ‘investment’ is no stranger to the BH3 walls, as this verb is a foundation of this blossoming business. We know what it means to invest in projects, people, and funds, and we know what it looks like when others invest in parallel. Yet, do we know what it means to flip the mirror and to invest in ourselves?

In the past couple of years, there has been an upturn in conversations about workplace culture and the importance of work-life balance. Work-life balance is defined by giving an equal amount of priority to work and your personal life. Opinions differ far and wide in relation to this specific topic, but no one can ignore the growing press that continues to spill over our LinkedIn feeds.

Here at BH3, we’re lucky to be surrounded by coworkers who care about health and living long for our friends and family. Salads are the holy food and we rarely get cupcakes moving from office to office. We have workout routines ready to be dominated after work or even ones that have us pumped up from an early morning. Is it enough though?

“A study conducted by UCL of more than 10,000 participants stated that white-collar workers who worked three or more hours longer than required had a 60% higher risk of heart-related problems than those who didn’t work overtime.” Another study in Finland tested white-collar employees at 40 and then again at 70. Candidates that consistently worked overtime and had short sleep scored lower on physical and mental tests compared to those who did not. Interestingly enough, candidates who consistently worked overtime and had normal sleep also scored significantly lower on these tests. There are over 55 studies that show a strong correlation between working overtime and the effect this has on physical and mental health.

Overworking can also cause anxiety, depression, and increased irritability for you and your coworkers. This stress also directly leads to heart disease, stroke, and other chronic illnesses as the mental stress begins to bleed into your physical health. A recent study shows that Americans work an average of 47 hours a week, which is a full workday more than other countries. So what do all these numbers and fancy data mean for us as BH3 employees? It means that keeping your 9-5, your scheduled 8 hours with short breaks in between, and turning work off once you leave the office for the evening, weekend, and vacations is imperative to the condition of your current and future health. You may not feel the effects now, but neither did the hundreds of men who were working overtime in Finland.

When you invest in yourself, you are also investing in your company. You become an employee who is happy to go to work and has the ability to give your one hundred percent within the work hour limitations. Let’s be better for present selves and future selves, and strive for work-life balance!

The art of solitary

Published via Homeschool Magazine. 2021.

At the apex of my high school existence, there came a bomb that demolished my entire reality in a second. In two months, a townhome practically bursting of life would be emptied into a U-Haul and driven south to a house that never quite bounced back from the ‘70s. Not only was I leaving senior plans and eighteenth birthday parties, but also an atmosphere that nurtured me with comfort, familiarity, and an accommodating number of coffee shops.

Then came the nuke: the realization of my soon isolation. High-spirited and light-hearted, there were few moments in which I wasn’t surrounded by people. In every part of town, there lived movies of memories amongst the auras of peers, family, close friends, and used book shop acquaintances. Convinced that this specific blueprint of social design made my daily life a carnival, even my body felt the blow of this change.

The lack of people around me came about in the blink of an eye and even though emotional preparation was attempted, the butterfly in my chest lamented for what seemed like ages. Nevertheless, after months of meltdowns induced by tunnel vision, the universe finally caught my attention. On a quiet rainy evening, book in hand, it began spilling its secrets via media that demanded a certain volume. It demanded silence from me, a silence that was pleaded for years but was not granted. Yet now that no superfluous noise filled the airways, no excess voices grabbed at my attention, artistic virtue and idealistic manner blossomed from every step that I took.

This journey began to show me that there is an art in solitary, a way to take time apart from a particular vernacular to mold your own voice. While there is strength in the opinion of other artists and imaginative thinkers, the manifestation of your own inspiration must be that completely of your own being. In order to do so, it is healthy for your thoughts to experience a detachment from distractions and other influences for a time. In this isolated state, there is space for original imagines and questions to form, and even more room for the search and creation of such.

So in what appeared at first to be a period of only pitiful loneliness, I was able to reach a peak of not only creative flourishing yet also personal growth. The ears that used to revel in rants and meaningless ramble now find peace in the music of everything standing still. I was taught that life speaks to us through zephyrs softer than whispers; if you sit still and really listen in the silence, you can hear it calling out to you.
